GIVING WITH GRACE

SPAY AND NEUTER CLINIC AT LAKE NORMAN HUMANE

COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND BENEFITS

The primary focus of this clinic is to lower the number of pets that are euthanized, abandoned, or surrendered to rescues and animal controls by offering affordable low-cost spays and neuters to the public and other rescue groups. Adding another spay/neuter option for the public will lessen the wait time it currently takes to schedule a low cost surgery which will in turn, lower the birth rate of unwanted kittens and puppies.

The vaccines that will be available include the Rabies vaccine for all pets, Bordetella and Distemper vaccines for dogs, and FVRCP vaccines for cats.

By establishing an in-house clinic, we aim to significantly reduce costs and improve the efficiency of our operations while fostering responsible pet ownership and reducing the burden on local animal control agencies.

Fundraising and Support Needed

With a lead gift from the Giving with Grace Foundation, we are ready to finalize our architectural plans for the upfit at our facility. Although 65% of the necessary $1,000,000 required to complete this project has been pledged, we are still in need of additional funding to reach our goal. Community support is crucial to making this in-house clinic a reality. Naming opportunities are available for donors who wish to make a significant impact.

For more information, please contact SpayNeuterClinic@lakenormanhumane.org. Any donation will help in meeting the goal. Donations can be made in person at 2106 Charlotte Hwy, Mooresville, NC 28117 or by visiting our website www.lakenormanhumane.org

Substantial Cost Savings for Lake Norman Humane

We anticipate a substantial cost savings by performing surgeries internally and by having a dedicated veterinarian on staff. This approach is expected to save us approximately $123,000 annually on spay/neuter services and an additional $61,000 on other veterinary expenses. These funds can be reallocated to other vital services and initiatives, furthering our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome pets in need.

Enhanced Efficiency and Reduced Wait Times

The establishment of the in-house clinic will also lead to a notable reduction in the length of stay for pets awaiting adoption by enabling timelier spay and neuter procedures. Previously, we had to rely on appointments at external clinics, which often resulted in extended wait times for a dog or cat to be available for adoption. By minimizing these delays, more pets can be prepared for adoption quicker, helping them find their forever homes sooner.
